Winter Book Break

We are headed to Winter Break at full speed! With the excitement that the holidays bring, there has been some new and exciting things happening in the library as well.

While I was out all week, the students were able to spend some time with a guest librarian--

Mrs. Burton! Mrs. Burton set up fun winter-themed book displays, did storytime, and played catch-up with the new organization of the library. So, thank you to Mrs. Burton!

The Food Drive is also still in full swing. As the Food Drive comes to an end this coming Monday, December 19th, the Character Counts Leadership Team is providing extra incentive for a final push in bringing in non-perishable food items. On Monday, for every 3 items that a student brings in, her/she will receive a raffle ticket. At the end of the day, we will do a raffle ticket drawing to give students a chance to win 1 of 4 copies of the book Crenshaw by Katherine Applegate. Crenshaw is about a boy whose family struggles with homelessness and hunger. Our Food Drive has been part of a National Food Drive that is Crenshaw themed. The author and her publicist even donated an autographed copy of the book for us to raffle! So please bring in food for those who need it most!

On a final note before break, my gift to the students is to check out as many books as they would like (granted that they can carry them safely). I hope that students enjoy the gift of reading a variety of exciting books over their break!

Happy Holidays!
