Some new events have started this week in the library!

I have a copy of the anthology Children's Book-A-Day Almanac by Silvey. From this Almanac, I set up displays for the Book of the Day, author birthdays, and books that represent historical events. For example, today I set up the B.O.D. Lyle, Lyle Crocodile (paired with a non-fiction books about crocodiles), the book The Girl Who Loved Wild Horses to celebrate author Paul Goble's birthday, and a book about the Choctaw heritage (my heritage) to celebrate Ancestor Appreciation day! Having the conversation with students about appreciating their heritage and ancestors today inspired students to choose books on the countries that they are from!

This week we also started daily lunchtime events in the library. Thus far this week we have had Makerspace Monday in which students finished their redesigned book covers, and Boardgame Tuesday where students challenged each other at Checkers. The next few days will mark ASL Club (Wednesday), Quiet Read Time (Thursday), and Crafts/Coloring (Friday).
